Garajau:

The Shore Tour starts with the pickup from your Cruiseship

The village gets its nam efrom the garajau - terns - that nest on the cliff .A statue of christ - a miniture version of the one in Rio. From the location it offers fine views of funchal and of passing of ships heading for the harbour.

Santa Cruz:

A very appealing place , well worth a detour The town has a lovely palm - lined seafront and is centred on the attractive white igreja de santa cruz , one of the oldest and best preserved churhes on Madeira

Machico:

Machico lies in a beautiful natural bay, surrounded by steep terraced slopes and fronted by its own stony and sandy beach.In the Main Square, lies Igreja Matriz, built under the order Tristao Vaz Texeira wife, Branco. Machico beach , backed by a seafront promenade , palms trees and cafes.

Ponta Sao Lorenco:

Ponta Sao Lorenco is the eastmost point of Madeira. It has a very different feel to the rest of the Madeira Island with dramatic cliffs.The landscape here is more like that of Porto Santo and the ilhas Desertas than the rest of Madeira, the vegetation is also distinctive, consisting of cacti, thistles and the red-tipped, seaweed-like ice plants.

Monte - Toboggan Ride:

The attractive village of Monte perches 550 m above sea level and is 6 kms from the centre of funchal. The beautiful gardens of Monte palace. The 2 towered church is the islands most important church. The church is also the final resting place of emperor Karl I of Ausria and king of Hungary. For most people, the toboggan run is the most memorable experience to be had in Monte. The toboggans are basically giant wicker baskets , attached to wooden runners which are oiled using a greasy rag.
